Suspect Steals Police Car, Smashes Second Cruiser In Fairfax County (Developing)

What started as an investigation into a reported stolen vehicle at the Fair Oaks Shopping Center ended when a suspect took over a police cruiser and quickly crashed in Fairfax County.

Officers were called to the shopping center on Friday, June 21 to probe reports of a stolen vehicle; however, one of the suspects took off in the cruiser, only to into another police vehicle nearby.

The suspect was then taken into custody.

Police say that two officers and the suspect were all hurt, though they are considered non-life-threatening injuries. The incident led to a closure in the westbound lanes of Government Center Parkway at Post Forest Drive in Fair Oaks while detectives investigate.

The incident remains under investigation.
